Bayliner has been responsible for getting more people into their first boat than any brand in the world. It has replicated that success in the bow rider market segment in Australia. With the international boat builder based in the US most designs and colour schemes are based around that market, until now. The Australian distributor, Berowra Waters Wholesale has worked closely with Bayliner US to develop two new models, based on dealer and customer feedback, specifically for the Australian market. Both models are designated SX, short for Southern Cross and are available in two sizes, 175 and 185.
And both new models will be launched at the Sydney International Boat Show that starts on Thursday.
The Bayliner 175 has been the mainstay of entry level boating in this country for over a decade, and it’s no wonder with its versatility, convenience, affordability and ease of use. There are literally hundreds of these boats on the water and now Bayliner has redesigned one of the most recognisable bowriders in the world specifically for Australian tastes.

The Bayliner 175 SX retains the familiar and simple design Bayliner has championed for decades ensuring its boats are immediately easy to use and understand while refinement comes from its sports steering wheel that compliments the stainless steel pack. The new SX model will come standard with a black hull, with a striking organe stripe and will include features like cleats, rub rail, through hull fittings, cup holders and grab handles as standard features. Adding to the sophisticated level of this package is the tan accents on the seats, which set off the new graphics and colour scheme. Plush carpet, which will keep you comfortable all day long, is also part of the standard features.
Powered by a torquey 135hp Mercruiser, it is more than capable of towing wake boarders and even skiers, the 175 SX is only available in Australia for a limited time and is destined to be one of summers stand out packages for all families.
Imagine a solid black hull with red accent, sports steering wheel and black windshield frame and you have the limited 185SX that is rounded out with soft Sea Deck on the swim platform.
This new and sporty look for Bayliner keeps the Bayliner feel, but adds refinement to a great package.
Bayliner 185 SXThe 185 is the perfect size for families looking for more space and refinement. It sits perfectly in the pocket of a suitably sized boat capable of fishing, skiing and cruising and is capable of handling a family, yet small enough for two to handle as well.
Whether you’re fishing, cruising or engaged in something more energetic like skiing, Bayliner’s focus of creating packages suitable for Australia’s unique conditions will ensure there is a suitable model for everybody.
Standard power comes from a 3.0 L Mercruiser 135hp, which is more than capable of cruising, water sports, or generally running around on the many waterways Australia is famous for. Other engine options are also available on this model.
Bayliner Australia marketing manager Todd Kay said he was excited with how both boats have turned out.
“They look great and provide exceptional value,” Mr Kay said “The black hulls and different interior colours will make the new models easy to distinguish from the standard models.”
