Bayliner Australia launched the VR5 at the Gold Coast International Marine Expo yesterday. The VR Series made its world debut earlier this year at the Miami Boat Show but this was the first opportunity for Australian boat buyers to see the all-new model. And it didn’t take long to impress with the first sale complete within one day of it hitting the stand.
Built on the classic bowrider platform Bayliner is renowned for, the VR5 represents a significant shift with a redesigned hull and top deck delivering more comfort than ever before. At 6.20 metres, the VR5 builds on Bayliner’s proven V-bottom runabout heritage. The new design has carried the full 2.4m beam further forward in the boat than ever before delivering more space internally, especially in the forward lounge.
Also new for the VR Series is a self-bailing cockpit featuring Bayliner’s new AftAdvantage design that increases the rear seating area. To do this, the standard integrated swim platform is positioned further back than comparable models adding interior space while providing the ideal staging area for water sports. By having the swim platform located at the end of the running surface Bayliner delivers more internal space than many competitors.

Internally the design offers freedom to move and versatility with an independent adjustable helm seat and a forward facing passenger seat with a movable backrest which folds flat creating an L-shaped lounge on the port side with a full width bench seat at the rear. A large sun pad offers a place to soak up the sun and the entire cockpit is carpeted in a durable teak mat finish. This gives the Bayliner VR5 an upmarket contemporary feel.
The boat on display included an optional tower and stainless pack and was powered by a 250hp V6 Mercruiser. It’s a bold step forward in its bowrider design, a concept Bayliner has been a world leader in over 20 years. It’s the perfect crossover boat for entertaining, skiing, wakeboarding or fishing and it has the pedigree to handle most conditions you will have it out in.
