Beneteau completed the renewal of four small sport boats in late 2018 and now their focus has turned to the yacht range with the First Yacht 53 set to be launched in late 2019. The design continues the exceptional design and performance of the yacht range, maintaining the current direction of the brand.

Beneteau have produced over 24,000 boats in the last 40 years with many winning top international awards and the new First 53 won’t be far behind.

This change is a concerted effort by Beneteau to restore the sailing prestige on which the brand’s reputation was built. This path was originally mapped out by Gianguido Girotti, managing director of the brand, in charge of product strategy.

The new team that worked on this redesign had no problems in challenging the greatest architects and designers for this first yacht. This has been a long time in the making with a competition launched in 2016 yielding two new names, Roberto Biscontini and Lorenzo Argento.

They won Beneteau over with their ability to develop features from the very high-performing yachts that they usually design, while remaining loyal to the First legacy, which has marked the history of Beneteau and sailing.

“They also took into account the studies we carried out beforehand with our keenest customers wishing to move upmarket,” said Damien Jacob, the Sailing Yacht product coordinator at BENETEAU.

Roberto Biscontini’s brought thirty years of America’s Cup experience to the First Yacht 53 and he has delivered a perfectly balanced hull under sail with extremely promising performance. Over twenty drawings and simulations were used to position the centre of buoyancy accurately, to achieve the desired result.

The deck plan and interior of the First Yacht 53 were the focus of Lorenzo Argento’s sharp sense of detail. The yacht maintains the minimalist features of modern yachting. She has managed to combine a low coach roof, broad open stern with a clean cockpit. A perfect embodiment of the distinctive style and the racing spirit of its owner.

With an classic silhouette, the First Yacht 53 combines stylishness and speed. And still manages to combine quality details such as a tender garage, carbon rigging, large internal spaces, a real lounge area, teak mouldings and top-quality materials.

The First Yacht 53 will be launched officially at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2019.
