If you’re looking for the perfect family boat, you’re often drawn to the impressive Australian manufacturer, Haines Signature. They have a long pedigree in building affordable and well finished boats that cater to those looking to cruise, entertain, fish or tow inflatable toys. With the introduction of the new Haines Signature 495F, they have delivered yet another boat capable of crossing over.

The new model replaces the 493F and remains a classic cuddy cabin design with storage and at a pinch a bed up the front. There is ample space in the cockpit courtesy of a redesign with twin seats at the helm and a sturdy fold away bench seat across the transom. The boat can be optioned up with a bimini (as displayed) among other options.

The boat redesign adds an extra 150mm to the cockpit. The remodelled dash can now accommodate a 9 inch screen and additional storage in the form of long side pockets provide space for everyday bits and pieces. I personally like the addition of twin live bait tanks (one in each corner) and finally a redesigned bow and better access for anchoring.

It’s an excellent entry point for any family looking to get into the market with a decent sized craft at an affordable price. At this size, it also negates the need for a larger car, being well within the limits of a family sedan. It’s a basic set up but more than capable of being driven out of the dealership and straight to the ramp with the appropriate safety gear.

Power options range between 60 and 90 horsepower with a base price, excluding on water costs of around $38,000. We expect this would be a 60hp engine with the large 90hp adding somewhere in the vicinity of $6,000.
