Garmin has released a range of new VHF marine radios that can be fitted as an aftermarket package or as part of the original fit out when you buy a new boat.

There are two VHF marine radio models available, the VHF 110i and VHF 210i, and both feature an updated industrial design and sleek aesthetics. They were also designed to complement Garmin’s latest GPSMAP chart plotters and multi-function displays (MFDs), and offer full integration with Garmin systems.

VHF 110iVHF marine radio 1

The entry-level VHF marine radio offers 25W of transmit power and Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC) compatibility via NMEA 2000. In addition to dedicated buttons and knobs for ease of use, the VHF 110i features three soft keys that allow users to see and select the information they want, while eliminating the clutter they don’t. The VHF 110i also features Position Tracking, which allows the user to locate and keep tabs on up to three boats that are also fitted with a Garmin system.

VHF 210i

This VHF marine radio comes with all the same features as the entry-level VHF110i but also adds the Automatic Identification System (AIS) for improved situational awareness and greater confidence on open water. With 25W of transmit power, the VHF 210i AIS also comes standard with a two-way hailer system that can be connected to a loud hailer horn or external speaker on the deck or tower for on board communication. Like the VHF 110i, the VHF 210i AIS provides standard DSC functionality, including distress calling and direct calling with user-programmed Maritime Mobile Service Identity (MMSI).

Both models are fixed-mount and are very easy to install. The starting price for the VHF 110i is $429. The VHF 110i and 210i are both available now from all Garmin stockists.
